President of the Board
Term Expires: 2020
Stephen Anderson has resided in Sky Country since 1989. During this time I have raised four children. All of which have participated in Jurupa’s Parks and Recreation programs. Their involvement included organized sports such as soccer and baseball. I am well aware of how important recreational activities can be to participants. This is particularly true for the young when character and self-esteem is formulating. My experience in Jurupa provides me with high regard for the quality of our parks and our recreation programs. The better our parks and programs the greater the likelihood that they will benefit our constituents. It is to this goal that I seek to serve. We also have to recognize that our community is diverse and has many needs. As such recreational program development continues to be required. Community input is sought and needed if the best possibilities are to be obtained. In short, Jurupa needs a Parks and Recreation Program that supports our way of life: dignity, liberty, justice, opportunity and fun for all.

’My husband Don and I have lived in Jurupa Valley since 2006. In 2013 I started a small business, Pen Porter, which offers marketing and public relations services to other small businesses. I became active about that same time in the Jurupa Valley Chamber of Commerce, and served on its board and as its marketing manager during its 2013-2014 year. I was encouraged by several other Chamber members to run for the Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District Board, and successfully did so in 2014.
I also serve on a board for a running/walking club in Riverside called Riverside Road Runners, and I am the founder of local walking club Jurupa Valley Motion. I have always loved running and walking, but now am passionate about providing all types of recreation our community wants, be it walking, running, horseback riding, swimming, ball sports or visual and performing arts.
